Prepare to discover new frontiers of composition right in the heart of Europe.

Benefits of the workshop:

  • getting acquainted with excellent sites that I have visited several times
  • small number of participants, I can personally attend to everyone
  • easy accessibility to the shooting location, no fitness required here
  • as a VFFOTO ambassador, I will introduce you to new products such as circular magnetic filters, very addictive, I will have them available there
  • parking right in front of the accommodation
  • good friendly atmosphere
  • separate undisturbed room for presenting photo processing techniques on PC, I show everything I know on a powerful laptop connected to a TV or large monitor
  • everyone gets rich photo scripts in digital form, it can’t happen that nobody remembers anything after returning from WS

What will we be working on?

In the workshop we will go through the complete photographic process, from the initial idea to the publication of the finished photograph. We will focus on field practice and advanced post-production techniques that will guarantee visual quality.

🗺️ Preparation and implementation in the field

  • Advanced site planning: you will master the entire process from the idea in your head through preparation to implementation. You will learn how to predict the light and choose the optimal time.
  • Mastery of long exposure (ND filters): we dedicate ourselves to the technique of shooting with ND filters.
  • Sunrises and sunsets: How to properly expose and compose to capture the magical atmosphere of the Golden Hour and the Blue Hour.
  • Panoramas and Stitching: practical tips for taking multiple shots and stitching them together professionally into wide-angle panoramas.

🌌 Night photography of Kriváň

  • Night photography basics: technical settings for clear night shots.
  • Milky Way: How to plan and properly shoot the Milky Way.
  • Star Trails: a technique for capturing impressive star trails.

💻 Professional post production (RAW to final)

  • We will discuss this part in a separate, undisturbed room. I’ll show you step by step what programs to use when and why.
  • RAW format and “Develop”: the necessity of a good quality RAW file for maximum quality and range of the shot.
  • Blending advanced techniques: detailed explanation and practical demonstrations of Exposure Blending, Time Blending and Perspective Blending.
  • Luminosity Masks: why and how to use Luminosity Masks for precise and targeted light and shadow adjustments.
  • Focus Stacking: a technique that ensures the sharpness of the entire scene, from the foreground of the river to the distant Krivan.
  • Final editing and publishing: Finishing the photo (final editing, color calibration), downsizing for the web and effective publishing.

You will leave the workshop with a complete understanding of the workflow, from the idea, to the shoot, to the finished, publishable shot.

What do you need?

📸 Technique

  • Camera of any brand (ideally if it can shoot in RAW format).
  • A wide-angle lens or longer glass is certainly useful, but not a requirement.
  • Tripod (a great help for longer exposures).
  • Remote trigger (or at least the possibility of self-timer).
  • ND filters – if you don’t have them, it doesn’t matter, they are not a necessity, but I can provide them (just let me know the thread diameter in advance) .

🎒 Field equipment

  • Suitable hiking clothes and warm layers (cold with a tripod can be a pain, but nothing to worry about).
  • Waterproof footwear /I recommend insulated boots, I can help you with that/, or a raincoat or poncho.
  • Headlamp (useful for morning and evening transfers).
  • Gloves that allow handling the camera.

✨ The most important

  • A desire to learn new things.
  • Good mood.

⚠️ Practice Tip:

  • Don’t underestimate the clothing, standing in one place cools you down quickly and when it’s cold it’s harder to concentrate on taking photos. Comfort is essential to really enjoy the workshop.

What does the price not include?

  • accommodation*
  • insurance, if applicable
  • transport to the course
  • diet

* As I am not a travel agency, accommodation is not part of my services. However, in order for us to be accommodated together, I will book the accommodation for you (in cooperation with you).
