The place where fire shakes hands with ice. Don't miss the endless beauty of Iceland, all during a 7-day photo expedition. Experience the magic of Iceland, where nature writes the script to suit itself, and therefore changes it often. A moonlit island in the Atlantic Ocean with a Nordic climate is a true European exotic. A land of fire and ice, green moss and black lava, it is full of roaring waterfalls, slumbering volcanoes, vast glaciers and erupting geysers - a true photographer's paradise.

What's included:

  • rental of cars
  • refuelling throughout the expedition
  • hotel accommodation *
  • lecturer always available
  • lectures, photo processing, complete know-how
  • photo scripts in digital form

* As I am not a travel agency, accommodation is not part of the services I offer. However, in order for us to be accommodated together, I will book the accommodation for you (in cooperation with you).

What is not included:

  • Meals (it is likely that some of the accommodation will include breakfast in the price. Other meals will have to be arranged individually. We have identified several cheap grocery stores along the routes
  • We will be staying in places where we can prepare/cook our own food
  • air ticket (I’ll be happy to help with it, though)
  • travel/accident insurance or unexpected event costs
  • possible visit to the ice caves, to be dealt with separately, but the surcharge is not high at all

What is not addressed in the photo expedition

  • covid
  • Policy
  • wars

Live and let live, that’s why we won’t talk about it, we’d rather take pictures and have a lot of fun

Benefits of the workshop:

  • Getting to know the excellent sites, “Little Iceland” + south /Reynisdrangar, Skogafoss, Vestrahorn etc./
  • I have visited Iceland many times, so I know where to look
  • Accommodation always in a hotel /apartment/, no tents or mattresses, but a warm bed and shower
  • Getting acquainted with the most interesting photolocals
  • Easy accessibility to the shooting location
  • Good friendly atmosphere
  • Everyone gets rich photo scripts in digital form, it can’t happen that nobody remembers anything after returning from WS

THE ADVENTURE? CASTING? WATERFALLS?

As you probably know, there are countless photogenic waterfalls and rock formations on the shore of the ocean in Iceland. Where it is necessary not only to know the terrain, but also the tides. I have these things mapped out and mastered as well.

What will we be working on?

  • preparation
  • shooting with ND filters
  • Planning
  • sunrises and sunsets
  • step-by-step explanation of what programs to use when and why
  • exposure blending
  • time blending
  • perspective blending
  • night photography
  • star trails photography
  • panorama and its connecting
  • focus stacking
  • luminosity masks
  • final photo editing
  • scaling down for web
  • publishing photos

We will go through the photo from the very beginning /idea in the head/, through the actual realization /photography/, developing RAW format /necessity/, to editing in PC.

What do you need?

  • willingness to learn new things
  • good mood
  • a camera of any brand /preferably, however, if it can shoot in RAW format/
  • wide-angle lens, longer glass /they are fine but not a requirement/, but definitely some lens is needed
  • remote trigger /optional/
  • ND filters, if you don’t happen to own one, no problem, I’ll try to arrange for your lens diameter in advance
  • a tripod would be useful
  • suitable hiking clothes, waterproof shoes, raincoat or poncho
  • Headlamp

Please don’t underestimate the warm clothes. It can be very uncomfortable when you’re squatting on the spot with a tripod. And my experience is that when it’s uncomfortable, you don’t really want to take pictures.

And much more

Why didn’t I give a specific day-by-day expedition plan? Because in Iceland it is not possible. We will be guided mainly by the weather and conditions. Your tutor will be an experienced photographer who knows where to go in what conditions. However, you can be sure that this photo expedition will be an experience you won’t forget for the rest of your life! You will take away from it not only experiences but also interesting photos and a lot of new experiences and valuable knowledge in the field of landscape photography 😊.

A tutor to accompany you
